Pollachi, July 12, 2026 – Speaking with great conviction and emotion, former Tamil Nadu BJP President and ex-IPS officer K. Annamalai created waves in political circles with an unexpected declaration during his first public appearance following his resignation. “I quit BJP in order to serve the people, not to criticize them”, Annamalai said confidently while addressing a cheering crowd at the massive political gathering in Pollachi.
Who is K. Annamalai?
Annamalai is a familiar name in Tamil Nadu politics. Earlier, he was a bold and dedicated IPS officer fighting against crime and corruption. Then he decided to join politics and joined the BJP and became the president of BJP in Tamil Nadu. He worked hard for the party, criticized the ruling DMK government boldly and became popular among many people, particularly the youth community. However, recently, about four weeks ago, he surprised everyone by resigning from the BJP. Many people had been guessing whether he was upset or wanted to attack the BJP. But in Pollachi today, he clarified everything.
Massive Pollachi Rally
The rally was held in Pollachi, the name of this rally was “Drug-Free Pollachi Awareness Conference.” Thousands of people were present there. They all were there without receiving any special invitation or passes from the organizers. Annamalai’s newly formed organization, “We the Leaders,” already has 19 lakh members in less than one month. There were a lot of people gathered, and they were all full of enthusiasm. Some students pledged not to use drugs. Six resolutions were approved that would help them fight drug addiction and sale of illicit liquor.“Maaruvom, Maatruvom” means “We will transform and bring change.”
Explosive Speech of Annamalai
Annamalai addressed with great energy and precision. He didn’t attack the BJP. He simply explained his stance in plain words that touched everyone’s hearts. “I quit BJP to serve the people better. Not to criticize them,” he stated clearly. He then went on to state his personal belief: “I am a Hindu. But when I leave my house, I lock my caste and religion in my house. When I stand in front of you, I stand here as an ordinary human being, like all other humans. It is not necessary to display my religion every time. “Everyone loved this. And he continued, “Being a good Hindu means treating everyone equally.
One should not treat anyone higher or lower. All must walk together on one straight line. This is what I mean by being a good Hindu. “He went on to declare that in his new movement there was no question of caste or religion politics involved. “Religion and caste are beyond the purview of ‘We the Leaders.’ Too much of politics on basis of caste and religion. Annamalai emphasized that their rally wasn’t meant to create any problems for the new government and its leaders. “This is about eliminating drugs from our society. The war against drugs must begin right from the household level and family level. We need to eliminate the demand for drugs,” he said emphatically.
Big Plans for a Drug-Free Tamil Nadu and Beyond
It did not end with mere promises for Annamalai. He laid out big plans:
- July will be “White Band Month” to generate awareness about drugs.
- August will see 50 lakh tree planting drives in the entire state of Tamil Nadu.
- The opening of an Ethics and Leadership Centre is on October 15.
Annamalai’s movement is concerned with addressing real issues: elimination of drugs and liquor around schools and temples, protection of women, environmental sanitation, and development of leadership skills. Together, in the next six months, they will address six main issues that are relevant to common man.
New Politics for 2031
“The most significant development,” Annamalai announced, “is that we will now have not just a social organization but also a political party by the name of We the Leaders. “He is optimistic about the future. “There will be a huge change in the 2031 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The young generation (Gen Z) brought a huge change in 2026. They will do it once again in 2031.”He believes in healthy politics based on governance, accountability, and service rather than power struggles or blame games.
He has youth power in his social organization, where 54% of its members are under 35 years and 17% of women. Why the Speech is so Important The speech by Annamalai is causing waves in Tamil Nadu. He is seen as an honest voice that opted out of one of the largest parties to serve the people directly. Annamalai is trying to position himself as a real nationalist and reformer with an equal vision that fights against corruption and drug abuse. He left the BJP to serve the people better rather than criticizing is an attempt to go beyond partisan politics and appeal to a wider population.
Supporters of Annamalai appreciate his straightforward language and vision, while critics will be looking to see how successful the movement is going to be compared to DMK, AIADMK, and other parties. Roadmap Ahead of a tough cop, then a BJP leader, to heading his own movement, the career of Annamalai has seen many ups and downs. Today’s rally at Pollachi showcased another side to his character that was matured and oriented towards people. The rally concluded on an optimistic note: Transformation will take place when everyone in society starts working for themselves. “Transformation will take place right in front of our eyes when each individual starts working.” Politics of Tamil Nadu has just turned out to be more intriguing. With Annamalai starting an altogether new innings in the field of politics, the state will watch with interest how this ‘We the Leaders’ will fare in the future. Will this movement be able to make a strong political mark by 2031? Time alone will give the answer. But what remains clear is that Annamalai has ignited another flame in the hearts of people through his inspiring message of service, equality, and anti-drugs.
