Insults to an Outburst which caused Controversy.
On 18th June 2026, BJP MP Ramesh Jigajinagi went beyond the limits of decency and violated every rule of good behavior. In response to the letter sent by the Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge to the supremo of RSS Mohan Bhagwat, who happens to be a Dalit, Jigajinagi made casteist statements.. His comments included “Why would a Dalit have anything to do with RSS? It is my question, bro. Just sit back peacefully…” Also, “No one who ever messed with RSS has ever lived.” These comments were not just an individual attack on Priyank Kharge but were aimed at silencing a Dalit leader who had asked some basic questions regarding the RSS’s transparent working.
Kharge’s Simple Demand for Accountability
Priyank Kharge did not berate or threaten to ban the RSS in any way. He just made a very reasonable request from an official letter. It is important to understand that in Karnataka alone, RSS conducts thousands of daily shakhas and huge processions, where there have been 4,000 shakhas and 2 lakh people in uniforms reported recently. But what is even more interesting is the fact that unlike any other trust, corporation, or society in India, RSS is not registered anywhere under any Act of the Indian legislature. Kharge was concerned about their legality, financial status, and how they comply with the public order regulations. It is quite reasonable. But the BJP resorted to caste abuse.
BJP Uses Caste to Secure RSS Position
BJP’s actual “Dalit outreach” policy entails giving tickets and positions to some Dalit leaders, such as Jigajinagi, but whenever such leaders or Dalits start raising any issue against RSS, the true power base of the BJP, then they are asked to remain calm and “stay peaceful.”Even Jigajinagi started targeting Kharge for getting the position owing to his father, Mallikarjun Kharge. This is a typical example of divide-and-rule politics, where the BJP is using Dalits to target other Dalits. The BJP is using Dalit tokenism where Dalits can remain in the party only if they blindly defend the RSS. No one who messed with RSS has ever survived.” This is not a common political expression.
RSS: An Organization Beyond the Law?
RSS says it is merely a cultural organization and hence it is not required to register itself. The president of RSS Mohan Bhagwat himself stated that even Hindu religion doesn’t have to be registered. However, the RSS is not just another organization. It has a huge presence, plays an active role in elections through its members and dictates government policies. It generates huge revenue from voluntary contributions.If all other smaller NGOs and political parties have to abide by certain laws, pay taxes, and declare their revenues, then how is RSS different? It gets a special treatment which gives it an impression that it is beyond the Constitution and the law. The stand taken by BJP shows that it is more loyal to RSS than democracy.
Lessons from this Case Concerning BJP and RSS
This incident is about more than the utterances of one MP. It demonstrates the casteism prevalent within the RSS-BJP nexus. The BJP MP Ramesh Jigajinagi went over the top in terms of decency on 18th June 2026. In reaction to the letter that the Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge had written to the supremo of RSS Mohan Bhagwat, BJP MP Ramesh Jigajinagi, who happens to belong to Dalit community, made caste-based comments. Priyank Kharge responded to this threat with force, claiming that he belongs to Ambedkar and is not threatened by the threat. In doing so, he demonstrated the real spirit of Dalit assertion. The BJP protects the RSS from any form of accountability. This amounts to supporting an organization that seeks power but no accountability. This undermines the democratic system. It sends a clear message to citizens and Dalits alike, “Question not the mighty. Mind your own business.”
Conclusion
Both the BJP and RSS need to answer for themselves. Transparency should not be seen as an attack, but rather as a citizen’s fundamental right. The casteist comments of Jigajinagi can only raise the call for answers further. The Dalit community and indeed all citizens are free to raise questions about any organization that affects public life. The RSS and its political outfit, BJP, cannot continue hiding behind the caste attacks and threats.
