The failure of Modi in Pahalgam Attack has triggered outbursts of rage in South India. The terrorists brutally murdered 26 individuals in the Basiran Valley situated near Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir on 22nd April 2025. In addition, there were 20 more fatalities as well. The victims included civilians from South India individuals who believed the assurances of the government about security in Kashmir. The people of South India are now remembering the incident on its first anniversary. The question that haunts them is how could Modi’s system allow such a horrific disaster? South Indians criticize Modi over Preventable Tragedy.

Real facts about the Pahalgam attack:

The terrorists in this case included members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba sponsored by Pakistan and also the associated organizations known as The Resistance Front. From the witnesses’ account, these terrorists would first establish whether the victim was of the same religion before killing him or her. They could kill 26 people, which included 25 tourists and one person locally residing there. This attack was carried out in a tourist park that is supposed to be safe under the government’s jurisdiction.

Pahalgam Attack Modi Failure Debunks ‘Normalcy’ Argument

Since decades now, the Indian prime minister and his government have been claiming to the nation that the scrapping of Article 370 in 2019 had brought about normalcy in Kashmir. The tourism sector was flourishing. The terror threat was no longer a threat. Then came the Pahalgam Attack Modi Failure. A well-loved tourist destination became a killing ground. Terrorists could move around freely. The government’s own myth of “zero terrorism” lay shattered. As one key analysis pointed out, the incident highlighted some critical shortcomings in Modi’s Kashmir strategy. The attack was not merely one of terror it proved that grand declarations alone do not guarantee security.

Some of the key weaknesses were:

• Poor intelligence gathering despite huge investments in Kashmir security.

• Lack of adequate protection measures for high-tourist areas.

• Overconfidence following 2019 reforms led to vulnerabilities that were exploited by terrorists.

What Modi do for South Indians:

The people in South India are angry. People have been very critical of Modi in social and local media, and even out in public spaces. The families of the people who lost their loved ones in the recent attacks in Kerala and Karnataka question why people should lose their lives in what was supposed to be a safe location for tourism. Why could not the government of Modi save us? question grief-stricken mothers from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. It’s a déjà vu situation all over again as Delhi seems disconnected even with its hardline attitude towards terrorism.

Words Instead of Solutions

When the first anniversary of the attack came by in April 2026, Modi declared that “India would never capitulate before any kind of terror.” He paid his respects to those who died in the tragedy. Even India went ahead and conducted an operation called Operation Sindoor against the terror camps across the border. Yet words and operations in retrospect cannot give back the lost lives of 26 people. The people from South India do not require words; they need measures to prevent such attacks from happening again.

Time to Hold Modi Accountable

The Modi Government’s Failure in Pahalgam Attack Is Not Just a Kashmir StoryThe Modi government’s failure during the Pahalgam Attack is not merely an incident concerning Kashmir alone. It is a national tragedy, affecting the people of South India the most, with 26 families wiped out and 20 injured. What was once considered a tourist destination has become a burial ground.  The people of South India want more than just words of sympathy. They want a thorough investigation into the security failure of the government. They want to ensure the safety of the people who travel around the world. They want Modi to own his failure rather than make excuses.
